PVS Accessibility Statement
Commitment to support accessibility
We are committed to accessibility and are working to ensure our websites and online services are accessible for all customers, including people with disabilities. We have made a commitment to achieve conformance with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1 levels A and AA) standards. We are also firmly dedicated to complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable equivalents.
Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
Our goal is WCAG 2.1 Level A and AA conformance and we are currently working towards that both internally and with our appointed specialist partners.
Accessibility Features
Following are examples of some of the issues that we are addressing on Spire’s websites and online services:
Structural Markup: We are working to ensure semantic elements and techniques are used – such as headings, lists, paragraphs, and WAI-ARIA markup – to help enable users of assistive technology to understand our site’s content and navigate our site more easily.
Text Equivalents: People who either can’t see images or can’t hear audio may need some form of a text equivalent to interact with our sites. We are working to make sure that important images and media on our websites are accessible through alternative text equivalents.
Keyboard Access: We are making efforts to improve the ability for keyboard-only users to navigate and use Spire’s websites and online services.
Consistency: We are working to apply accessibility best practices consistently across all Spire’s websites and online services.
